Barcelona legend Rivaldo has blamed star player Lionel Messi for the exit of former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho from the club earlier this week, Goal reports.
According to him, Coutinho failed to thrive at Barcelona mainly due to the dynamics at the Spanish La Liga club.
Rivaldo pointed out that Philippe Coutinho was unable to survive at a Barcelona squad whose main man is Lionel Messi.
It is difficult to shine in a team that has Messi, as he takes the shine and responsibility at the club.
Philippe Coutinho became the most expensive Barcelona signing in January 2018 after the Catalans agreed to a £142m deal for him.

The Brazilian international spent 18 months at the Nou Camp but failed to make the necessary impact.
He has left the club for German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on loan for this season.
The Bavarian giants have paid €8.5m for the season-long loan deal which could be turned into a permanent deal at the end of his loan spell at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich have the option to sign him permanently for €120m.
Coutinho would be hoping to revive his career at Bayern Munich after the disappointments from his time with Spanish champions Barcelona.
