Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial has revealed what manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told him after he was handed the number nine jersey.

New Inter Milan signing Romelu Lukaku was the previous recipient of that number before he left Manchester United for Italy last week.

French international Martial was given the jersey upon the exit of Romelu Lukaku and it came with a word of encouragement from his manager.

Anthony Martial told United App about his conversation with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to him, Solskjaer told him that he has to take more responsibility and also score more goals.

Anthony Martial has started the new Premier League season on a good note after he scored in his first game.

The Frenchman scored one of the goals as Manchester United thrash Chelsea 4-0 in their opening game of the season.

Manchester United took the lead through a Marcus Rashford penalty in the first half after the England international was upended by Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in the box.

Martial added a second goal after the halftime interval before Marcus Rashford added a third goal for his brace.

Daniel James came off the bench to wrap up the win for the hosts.

Anthony Martial would be hoping to continue his good goalscoring form when Manchester United face Wolves on Monday.
