Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to rivals Chelsea after he faced them in the UEFA Super Cup for 2019.

The UEFA Super Cup 2019 was the battle of the 2019 Europa League winners (Chelsea) and 2019 Champions League winners (Liverpool).

Klopp and his Liverpool team needed penalties to see off Chelsea after both teams enjoyed a four-goal salvo at the end of regulation time and extra time.

In his post-match press conference after the game, Klopp pointed out the character shown by Chelsea and the resilience from his team.

The UEFA Super Cup is the second trophy won by Jurgen Klopp as a Liverpool manager.

The Champions League title was his first title at Anfield after almost four years in charge of the team.

The Super Cup title was made possible by the penalty shootout win over Chelsea.

The Reds beat Chelsea 5-4 with Tammy Abraham missing the decisive penalty for the west London giants.

Sadio Mane was the main man for Liverpool after he scored two goals for his team to make history as the first African player to achieve that feat in the history of the European Super Cup.

Olivier Giroud and Jorginho (penalty) got the goals for West London giants Chelsea.
