New Arsenal signing David Luiz has revealed why he left Chelsea for the Emirates Stadium on deadline day.

David Luiz became an Arsenal player on Thursday following his £8m move from London rivals Chelsea.

The 32-year-old talked about the motive behind the transfer in his first interview as an Arsenal player.

According to him, he left Chelsea for Arsenal after his time at Stamford Bridge was up.

David Luiz had reservations about the amount of playing time that he’ll get under the new management of Frank Lampard.

Chelsea have a new manager in former midfielder Frank Lampard who was appointed into his new job this summer.

David Luiz was dropped for the Blues’ final friendly game against German Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach.

The Brazilian international centre back would have moved from as key player under the last Chelsea managerial reign of Maurizio Sarri to a fringe player under Frank Lampard if he had stayed at the club.

David Luiz has signed a two-year deal at Arsenal until the end of the 2020/21 season and he has been handed the number 23 jersey ahead of the new season.

Arsenal start their Premier League campaign with an away game at Newcastle United on Sunday.
