Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed the decision to sell striker Romelu Lukaku to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Ryan Giggs is a former Manchester United winger and he’s presently the Welsh national team manager.
He spoke about his former club and new Inter Milan recruit Romelu Lukaku in a chat with the Manchester Evening News (MEN).
According to him, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has weighed up the Romelu Lukaku situation before arriving at the decision to sanction his sale.
Lukaku still had three years left on the five-year contract that he signed when he became a Manchester United player.
Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte was the brain behind the Romelu Lukaku transfer to the club after he made the request upon his appointment as the new Nerazzurri boss.
Lukaku has been given the number nine jersey upon his signing.
His transfer to Inter Milan was confirmed earlier this week in a £73.9m deal including £9.2m in add-ons.
Romelu Lukaku scored 42 goals for Manchester United during his time at the club.
The 26-year-old scored 27 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign as a Manchester United player before adding 15 more goals in all competitions last season.
