Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi has left the club for another loan spell away from the Premier League giants.

The Nigerian striker has joined German Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old will join Mainz 05 on loan for the 2019/20 season.

His loan deal was confirmed by Liverpool via an official statement on their Twitter handle on Tuesday.

Taiwo Awoniyi spent last season on loan at Belgian top flight side Royal Excel Mouscron.

The former Nigerian junior international signed a new contract at Liverpool in 2018.

He became a Liverpool player in 2015 after joining from Imperial Academy in Nigeria.

Taiwo Awoniyi has also spent loan periods at clubs like Genk, FSV Frankfurt etc.

He has not played for Liverpool competitively since his move to Anfield four years ago.

Liverpool will start the season without him again.

The Reds will begin their Premier League season on Friday night when they welcome newly promoted team Norwich City to Anfield.

Norwich City are back in the Premier League after they won the English Championship title during the last campaign.

The Canaries are back amongst the big boys alongside the likes of Sheffield United and Aston Villa who secured a place in the top flight via the playoffs.
