Chelsea defender David Luiz is in surprise talks with fellow Premier League outfit Arsenal according to the latest reports in the media.
Arsenal are in the market for a new centre back and David Luiz is said to be an option for the Gunners.
According to L’Equipe, David Luiz is attempting to force his transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal.
He trained separately away from the first team earlier on Wednesday.
Chelsea are reluctant to let him leave the club this summer mainly due to their transfer ban.
The Blues were handed a two-window transfer ban earlier this year by world football’s governing body FIFA.
Chelsea were penalized for their misgivings in relation to the signing of underage players.
The ban was contested by Chelsea but it was thrown out by FIFA’s Appeal Committee thus leading the club to take their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Arsenal had previously been linked with a move for David Luiz.
The Brazilian international was linked with the Gunners in January 2018.
Apart from David Luiz, Arsenal have been linked with other centre back targets like Dayot Upamecano and Daniele Rugani.
French defender Upamecano plays for RB Leipzig, while Italian international Rugani is a Juventus player.
