He has since been named the player/manager at his former club, Anderlecht.
Manchester City tried to sign Harry Maguire but they were priced out of a move for the England international centre back.
Maguire has since agreed to personal terms with city rivals Manchester United ahead of a move to Old Trafford.
Manchester City were ready to pay just £60m for Harry Maguire in comparison to Manchester United who agreed on a deal reported to be around £80m for him.
Nathan Ake could be the backup plan to Maguire for Manchester City and they might need to spend at least £40m for the Dutch international.
