Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has named a string lineup for the first game of the new English top flight season.

The Community Shield represents the curtain raiser for the new season in English football and its usually contested between the Premier League winners and the FA Cup winners.

Klopp and his Liverpool team will face Manchester City for this year’s edition of the Community Shield.

Manchester City won an unprecedented domestic treble including the Premier League title and the FA Cup title, while Liverpool were the second best team in the league behind the Citizens as they finished one point behind them at the end of the last Premier League campaign.

Manchester City are the reigning Community Shield champions after they defeated Chelsea 2-0 during the 2018 edition.

Ahead of the game with the holders, Liverpool boss Klopp has unveiled a strong lineup which includes the star forward duo of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Salah and Firmino returned to Liverpool training on Monday after a busy summer with their respective countries.

Fellow forward Sadio Mane is still on holiday and he’s expected to be back this week.
