Premier League giants Manchester United have had a big bid turned down for Ajax Amsterdam attacker David Neres according to the newest reports in the media.

David Neres has been attracting the interest of a lot of sides on the European football scene after his impressive performances for Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam last season.

According to the specific publication from Yahoo Sports Brazil, Manchester United made a £46m bid for David Neres and it was immediately turned down with Ajax holding out for €70m (£64m) for him.

David Neres was said to be close to a contract extension at Ajax until the interest from Manchester United surfaced.

David Neres had previously been linked with other Premier League teams like Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Brazilian international was a key member of the Ajax Amsterdam team that reached the semifinals of the Champions League before they were beaten by Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur over two legs.

Apart from their Champions League heroics, David Neres and Ajax Amsterdam also won two major trophies namely the Dutch Eredivisie title and the Dutch Cup title.

David Neres was part of the Brazilian squad that won the just concluded COPA America tournament on home soil.
