The Manchester United goalie was a key player for the Blades who finished the season in second place behind champions Norwich City.
Sheffield United and Norwich City will be joined in the new Premier League season by former European champions Aston Villa who defeated Derby County in the playoffs.
Aston Villa beat Derby County 2-1 in their playoff final clash at the Wembley Stadium in May.
The exit of Dean Henderson leaves David De Gea and Sergio Romero as the undisputed top two goalkeepers at the Theatre of Dreams.
First choice goalkeeper David De Gea is expected to sign a new long-term contract at the club.
