Leicester City defender Harry Maguire is the top defensive target for Premier League giants Manchester United this summer as the Red Devils try to improve their record from the last campaign.

Manchester United need a quality defender in their ranks this summer after conceding a whopping 54 goals in just 38 league games last season.

Their defensive woes was a major part of the reason for missing out on Champions League football in the new season which kicks off next month.

Harry Maguire is the man identified for the job of improving the Manchester United rearguard but his club has proved to be very difficult during negotiations with senior Red Devils officials.

Manchester United made a £70m bid for him earlier this week only for Leicester City to turn it down with the Foxes holding out for £90m at least or nothing.

It has been revealed that legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson predicted the attention that Harry Maguire has been getting in the last few weeks.

According to Unibet, the former Manchester United manager put a call across to Harry Maguire in 2011 shortly after the FA Youth Cup final between his Sheffield United team and Manchester United to encourage him that he’s destined for the top.

Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard were part of the Manchester United team that defeated Sheffield United in that final.
