Former Juventus manager Marcelo Lippi is adamant that Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt is better than Italian football legends Fabio Cannavaro and Paolo Maldini at his age.
The 2006 FIFA World Cup winning manager made this known during an interview with Italian news outlet Tuttosport.
According to him, he has never seen a defender with the ability possessed by the highly rated De Ligt.
The Italian tactician was full of praise for the young Dutch international centre back who has been turning heads on the European football scene.
He’s expected to leave Ajax Amsterdam this summer with several clubs on his trail including Italian Serie A Champions Juventus and Champions League holders Liverpool.
