Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist has warned Premier League club Newcastle United off Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard in their quest to appoint a new manager.
Steven Gerrard is the Rangers manager at the moment and Newcastle United are said to be interested in naming the former Liverpool midfielder as their new manager.
The 39-year-old has spent just one season at Rangers having been appointed as the manager of the Scottish Premiership giants last summer.
Steven Gerrard performed well in his first season at Rangers after he led them to second place behind champions Celtic.

Ally McCoist is wary of the interest of Newcastle United in Steven Gerrard and he has warned the Magpies to stay away from the Liverpool legend.
He spoke about Rangers and Steven Gerrard while he was on British radio TalkSport.
When he was asked about the bigger club from Rangers and Newcastle United, Ally McCoist gave an emphatic response as he said his beloved Rangers are a bigger club than Newcastle United before adding that the Magpies play in a better league.
Steven Gerrard is one of the three managers named on the managerial shortlist at Newcastle United who want to appoint a replacement for former boss Rafael Benitez in the next two weeks.
Ex-Arsenal skippers Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira also made the list.
