Three-time European champions Manchester United are under a big threat from Italian Serie A champions Juventus in the keenly contested race to sign highly rated Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt this summer.
The Red Devils were previously ahead of Juventus in the De Ligt race but it seems the Italians are now the team to beat.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Juventus are in pole position to sign De Ligt ahead of the likes of Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Barcelona and Manchester United.
It was revealed that Juventus have offered the player a lucrative five-year contract in addition to a transfer fee of €70m (£62m).
De Ligt had earlier talked about his conversation with Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo during the UEFA Nations League final clash between his beloved Netherlands and European champions Portugal.
Portuguese national team skipper Ronaldo asked De Ligt if he’s coming to Juventus and with the new development, it looks like the two players will link up again after the UEFA Nations League final which ended in a 1-0 win for the European champions.
Goncalo Guedes scored the only goal of the game as Portugal won the inaugural edition of three UEFA Nations League which was hosted in Portugal.
England took third place ahead of the fourth and final team Switzerland.
