Manchester United and Chelsea were interested in him before he left Argentine club River Plate for European football and he has also been linked with a summer move to Everton.

The Toffees want to bolster their squad ahead of the new season scheduled for August and Lucas Ocampos is on the list of their transfer targets.

Another player that could join Everton is Andre Gomes after the Merseysiders agreed on a £22m deal with Barcelona for the Portuguese international star.

Andre Gomes spent last season on loan at Everton and they have decided to sign him permanently from the Spanish champions after he impressed a great deal during the 2018/19 campaign.

Bruno Satin also pointed out that a transfer this summer might be unlikely after Lucas Ocampos was sent out after he was left out of the 23-man Argentina squad to the ongoing COPA America tournament in Brazil.

Lucas Ocampos scored five goals and also provided eight assists in 40 appearances in all competitions during the just concluded season as Marseille missed out on Champions League football via a fifth-placed finish.

Former European champions Chelsea have the opportunity to make the top four in the Premier League for the first time this season when they take on Newcastle United at home.

It is one of the week nine games in the Premier League and the match is billed for Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Chelsea have won their last two games in the Premier League and they could make it three wins in a row.

The Blues have not managed three victories on the bounce in the league this season though it must be pointed out that the Premier League is just two months old.

They face a Newcastle United side that has been largely unpredictable this season under new manager Steve Bruce.

Newcastle United have failed to beat any team outside the traditional top six since the start of this Premier League season.

The Magpies have won just two Premier League games this season and they have been against traditional top six teams.

Newcastle United stunned Spurs at home via a 1-0 win last month before repeating the same scoreline at home to Manchester United in their last league game.

Chelsea XI (4-3-3): Kepa Arrizabalaga; Cesar Azpilicueta, Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma, Marcos Alonso; Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley; Mason Mount, Willian, Tammy Abraham.

Chelsea will be without three players for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have won their last two games in the Premier League and the target ahead of the Newcastle United game is to make it three league wins on the trot.

Their quest to record a third successive Premier League victory has not been helped by the news that three players will miss the game.

The likes of Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Andreas Christensen will miss the game against the Magpies at home.

German international centre back Rudiger has barely been fit since the back end of last season when he sustained a serious knee injury during a league game at the home of Manchester United.

He has recovered from that knee injury but the former AS Roma player recently picked up a groin injury and will miss the Newcastle United game.

On his part, French World Cup winner Kante sustained an injury while he was on international break with his country and will miss the game against Newcastle United.

Andreas Christensen also picked up an injury while he was on international duty with Denmark and that injury will force him to miss the Newcastle United game.

The left-back sustained the injury while he was on international duty with Italy last month.

The former AS Roma player is back in full training ahead of the visit of the Magpies on Saturday evening.

In his absence, Marcos Alonso has deputized for him at left-back.

Marcos Alonso was the undisputed Chelsea left-back before the Spaniard was dethroned by Emerson Palmieri towards the end of last season while Maurizio Sarri was the Blues manager.

Sarri was replaced by Frank Lampard in the summer after the Italian tactician took the managerial job at Juventus.

Since he became the Chelsea manager this summer, former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard has opted for Emerson Palmieri ahead of Marcos Alonso.

Moussa Dembele

Manchester United are not just in the 12th position on the Premier League standings, they are also 18 goals behind their neighbors Manchester City who have scored 27 goals this season.

Nine goals from eight matches are unacceptable for United’s standard and Solskjaer is doing something to change the situation at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian boss is linked with some top strikers in the world including Mario Mandzukic, Zlatan Ibramovich, and Ligue 1 star Moussa Dembele.

It was reported by the Mirror that the Premier League outfit are close to reaching a deal with Juventus for Croatia’s 33-year-old Mandzukic. But how are they faring in their mission to lure Lyon’s in-form striker Dembele to Old Trafford in January?

It is believed that Lyon are asking too much for the player’s services as they could place a huge £71m price tag on the France U21 international.

According to the report, United won’t give in to the asking price, but negotiations are still ongoing between both clubs.

As for Ibramovich, nothing concrete is coming out of Old Trafford as Solskjaer isn’t ready to re-sign the Sweden international who was with the Red Devils during Mourinho’s regime.
