Championship outfit Derby County players have now been informed by their manager Frank Lampard of his decision to quit the club to take over at Stamford Bridge as the new Chelsea manager.
Although he made it clear that an agreement is yet to be reached, there are hopes that talks would be concluded and he could leave for the right offers and terms.
The former midfielder has emerged as favourite to take over the job from Italian boss Maurizio Sarri who left the club to join Italian Serie A champions Juventus after just a year in charge.
A number of names have been linked with the job but the Blues legend seems to have been favoured after his feat with the Championship outfit.
However, assistant Gianfranco Zola could follow Sarri to the Old Lady as he would not seek to work under Frank Lampard at the club.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard will face his first challenge on the job by not having the opportunity to sign a new player owing to the fact that the West London outfit have been handed a transfer ban that will stop them from registering any new player for the next two transfer windows.
