It is now confirmed that the West London outfit Chelsea will not part ways with France international Olivier Giroud at the end of the season because he has already signed a contract extension with the Blues team.
This will lay to rest speculations surrounding the future of the former Arsenal forward at the club especially after he complained of not having enough playing time in the English Premier League, a report that has been dismissed by manager Maurizio Sarri.
However, reports claim that the World Cup winner has agreed on a deal after he was persuaded by the Blues team to wait as they will not be able to replace him as a result of the transfer ban.
The performance of the France international has not been convincing and it was expected that a new striker be brought in if not for the ban on the club.
Olivier Giroud total record for the club is just 17 goals in 62 appearances, with most of the goals coming as a substitute player but his Europa League record as a starter in this season has been better, having scored 10 goals in 13 and 3 assists.
Manager Maurizio Sarri will now be left with no choice than to bank on the former Arsenal man and the Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain to lead his attack on the coming season.
