North London giants Arsenal have initiated contract talks with two of its best players in the youth teams to ward off the interest of German Bundesliga clubs like Bayern Munich.
According to the report from Goal, Arsenal officials want to extend the contracts of both Xavier Amaechi and Tyreece John-Jules this summer.
The players have just one year left on their respective contracts which will expire in the summer of 2020.
Arsenal want to prevent the situation of losing their best young players to other clubs.
The likes of Marcus McGuane, Stephy Mavdidi and Chris Willock have left Arsenal in recent seasons.
McGuane joined Spanish champions Barcelona while Willock and Mavdidi left for Benfica and Juventus respectively.
The two players especially Xavier Amaechi have constantly trained with the first team to show that they are part of the long-term plans at the club.
Amaechi recently started the 3-2 friendly win over Al Nasr FC of Dubai in March, while John-Jules came off the bench to score the winning goal of the game.
Tyreece John-Jules has scored 16 goals in 29 games across all the Arsenal youth teams.
On his part, a metatarsal injury has affected Xavier Amaechi this season but he has still managed to score four goals and also provided five assists in 14 games for the Arsenal u23s managed by club legend Freddie Ljungberg.
