Premier League champions Manchester City have dropped out of the race to sign Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell according to the widespread reports emanating from the media in the United Kingdom.
The specific publication from the Manchester Evening News (MEN) claimed that Manchester City are happy with their left-back options and they will look to strengthen other areas.
Ukrainian international Oleksandr Zinchenko has proven to be an able option for the injury-prone Benjamin Mendy while Brazilian international Danilo can also fill in as a left-back.
Earlier reports had revealed that the Citizens are eyeing a summer transfer for Ben Chilwell who has become a regular for both club and country this season.
The 22-year-old is also attracting the interest of North London giants Arsenal though it remains to be seen whether the Gunners have the necessary funds to prise him away from his present club.
Arsenal have identified left-back as an area to strengthen ahead of this summer and they might need to look elsewhere if they don’t secure the transfer of the aforementioned Chilwell from the Foxes.
Ben Chilwell is the undisputed first choice left-back at Leicester City and also in contention with Manchester United defender Luke Shaw for the left-back spot on international duty with the English national team.
