Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has identified four major areas that the Red Devils need to strengthen when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Owen Hargreaves talked extensively about the various problems with the Manchester United team while he was on BT Sport.

The Manchester United legend said that the Red Devils need a new defensive midfielder, a new centre back, a new right winger as well as a new central midfielder.

Manchester United have to spend money on new players in the summer if they want to perform better next season.

The Red Devils have not had the best of seasons following their inconsistent displays since the start of this campaign.

Manchester United have a lot of work to do if they are to qualify for Champions League football via the league route.

The Red Devils are in sixth spot at the moment on the Premier League table and are two points off the last Champions League (fourth) spot presently occupied by North London giants Arsenal.

They could have qualified for next season’s Champions League football if they had won the competition this season but they were eliminated earlier this week.

Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-0 in the second leg of their quarterfinal tie at the Nou Camp to secure a 4-0 aggregate win over the Red Devils.
