Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was the hero for the Red Devils after he netted twice from the spot either side of the halftime interval to give his team three valuable points against West Ham United in their Premier League clash.
The Frenchman was the difference between the two sides as Manchester United returned to winning ways with a 2-1 home win over the Hammers.
Pogba scored a 19th-minute penalty to give the Red Devils a first-half lead after West Ham United midfielder Robert Snodgrass was adjudged to have brought down Juan Manuel Mata in the box.
Manchester United didn’t play to their potentials but they went into the halftime interval with a lead and we’re fortunate to be on the good end of the referee’s decision after Felipe Anderson’s legitimate goal was ruled out for offside before the opening goal from Pogba.
That advantage last for just four minutes after Manuel Lanzini played in Felipe Anderson to fire home the equaliser for the visitors.
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea denied West Ham substitute Michail Antonio with a world-class save and that proved to be crucial after Pogba stepped up to score another penalty in the final ten minutes of the game and give the hosts the win after Ryan Fredericks brought down Anthony Martial.
West Ham were unfortunate in the buildup to the second penalty after Marcus Rashford strayed offside.
The win over West Ham United takes the Red Devils above top-four rivals Arsenal and into the fifth spot with 64 points.
