Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been named the 13th highest-paid footballer in the world according to the latest compilation made by popular French media outlet France Football.
The list from France Football contains the top 20 highest-paid players in football and it takes into account their salaries, bonuses and advertising revenues.
Mesut Ozil is the highest earner at Arsenal following the three-year deal that he signed when Arsene Wenger was the Gunners boss.
The retired German international signed a new contract in February 2018 worth £350,000 on a weekly basis.
Ozil has not always been a fan of the new Arsenal managerial setup under Unai Emery but it seems like he has turned the corner with the Spanish tactician.
Unai Emery dropped him for some big games earlier this season but the German has responded with big performances in recent games.
Mesut Ozil won the man-of-the-match award during the Premier League clash with Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Arsenal defeated the Magpies 2-0 courtesy goals from Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette in the first half and second half respectively.
Ozil didn’t score and assist against Newcastle United but he was able to help the Gunners control the game.
Arsenal was lifted to the third spot on the Premier League table.
