Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated that the Merseyside outfit Liverpool have been justified for their transfer decision to bring in Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton and make him the most expensive defender.
The Reds team stormed Southampton in the January winter transfer window of last year to bring in the Netherlands international central defender for a fee of £75 million and he has since established himself to be a key figure in the team.
With the coming of Virgil Van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Liverpool have been able to record the highest number of clean sheets in the league to speak of the quality that has been brought into their defence.
Pochettino is of the opinion that £75 million is not a lot of money for Virgil Van Dijk because he has been able to improve the team and that alone justifies the amount that would be paid for his signature.
However, Pochettino admits his side are a good team and have got good players but laments that they fail to play as a team which is the major headache he has got in the previous games they had dropped points.
A defeat for Tottenham against Liverpool on Sunday will put them in risk of not qualifying to the Champions League next season.
