Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka scored one of the goals for Switzerland producing a disappointing performance after losing a three-goal lead to play out a 3-3 draw at home to Denmark.

The UEFA Nations League semifinalists had led 3-0 into the final six minutes of their Euro 2020 qualifying clash before conceding three goals to lose two valuable points.

Remo Freuler gave Switzerland a first-half lead before Arsenal midfielder Xhaka added a second goal on 66 minutes.

Breel Embolo added a third goal ten minutes later to give the Swiss team a commanding lead.

Huddersfield Town defender Christian Joergensen thereafter started the fightback for the Danish team with six minutes left on the clock.

Christian Gytkjaer added a second goal for the visitors four minutes later before Brentford right-back Henrik Dalsgaard earned the share of the spoils for his side in added time from an unlikely position.

It was a poor result for the Swiss team in their Group D clash with Denmark in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

With the result, Switzerland lost top spot to the Republic of Ireland in Group D.

The Republic of Ireland secured Group D summit with a 1-0 win over Georgia at home courtesy the first half strike from Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane.
