Remo Freuler gave Switzerland a first-half lead before Arsenal midfielder Xhaka added a second goal on 66 minutes.
Breel Embolo added a third goal ten minutes later to give the Swiss team a commanding lead.
Huddersfield Town defender Christian Joergensen thereafter started the fightback for the Danish team with six minutes left on the clock.
Christian Gytkjaer added a second goal for the visitors four minutes later before Brentford right-back Henrik Dalsgaard earned the share of the spoils for his side in added time from an unlikely position.
It was a poor result for the Swiss team in their Group D clash with Denmark in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
With the result, Switzerland lost top spot to the Republic of Ireland in Group D.
