Tottenham Must Avoid Defeat Against Arsenal To Avoid Top-Four Drama
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has disclosed that Tottenham Hotspur must avoid defeat in the North London Derby to edge them closer to qualification for Champions League football next season.
Tottenham host Arsenal in their North London Derby clash in the Premier League at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon and Gunners legend Paul Merson believes that at least a draw would prevent Spurs from being dragged into the keenly contested race for top four.
Paul Merson talked about Tottenham Hotspur and the North London Derby in his Sky Sports column for Premier League predictions.
Tottenham Hotspur were in the title race alongside Liverpool and Manchester City as at the start of last season but two successive defeats against Burnley and Chelsea have all but ruled out even with ten games still to go.
A third successive league loss when they face Arsenal will definitely drag them into the race for top four.
As at the start of the week, Tottenham Hotspur were 10 points ahead of Arsenal but the aforementioned defeats mean that they have just four points more than the Gunners ahead of their clash on Saturday.
Spurs have 60 points and are in the third position ahead of Arsenal (56 points) and Manchester United (55 points).
