Almiron

The agent of Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron has revealed that North London giants Arsenal were interested in him during the recently concluded winter transfer window in January.

Agent Daniel Campos told ABC Cardinal that Arsenal wanted to sign his client on loan and that they only wanted a permanent move.

He also revealed the interest of other Premier League sides like Southampton and Manchester United.

Miguel Almiron became the most expensive player in the history of Premier League club Newcastle United after the Magpies paid a whopping sum of £20m to secure his transfer from Major League Soccer (MLS) club Atlanta United.

The Paraguayan international had helped Atlanta United win the MLS Cup before swapping the United States of America for the Premier League.

His transfer broke the previous record held by English football legend Michael Owen who joined the Magpies from Liverpool for a fee believed to be around £16m.

Arsenal missed out on Miguel Almiron last month but they were able to sign Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez on loan until the end of this season with the option to buy in the summer.

One-cap Spanish international Denis Suarez signed a one-year contract extension until 2021 at Barcelona before he left the club for Arsenal in January.
