Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged new signing Fred to take his opportunity amidst the injury crisis rocking the team at the moment.
In his pre-match thoughts ahead of the game, Solskjaer hinted that Fred could be given the chance to impress when Manchester United take on their hosts Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in Matchweek 28 clash on Wednesday night.
Manchester United are battling several injury problems and Fred could get his chance to shine against the Eagles.
The Red Devils could miss up to ten players for the game including midfielders Ander Herrera, Juan Manuel Mata and Nemanja Matic.
The absence of the aforementioned trio means that Fred is in line for his eighth start of this season’s Premier League campaign.
Brazilian international star Fred has had a disappointing spell at Old Trafford since he joined the club from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk last summer.
At the start of this season, Manchester United won the race to sign the midfielder ahead of city rivals Manchester City in a deal worth £52m but the player has failed to live up to expectations both from fans and the club.
He has played a peripheral role at the club since Solskjaer was named the interim Manchester United manager.
Solskjaer encouraged him as he compared him to ex-Argentine international Juan Sebastian Veron who had a slow start to his career at Manchester United.
