Manchester United midfielder Juan Manuel Mata could still leave the club despite the fact that he has been offered a three-year contract to further extend his stay at Old Trafford.
This is according to the publication from popular media outlet TeamTalk.
It was revealed that the Spanish international midfielder might snub the Red Devils’ contract offer in favour of a move to Premier League top four rivals Arsenal in the New Year.
His current contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season and that has prompted transfer talks involving clubs like Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
Juan Manuel Mata has been strongly linked with the Gunners as a result of his close ties with the new Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
The 47-year-old penned a three-year contract in the summer to replace former boss Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.
Mata played under his compatriot Unai Emery at Spanish La Liga giants Valencia for three hugely successful years between 2008 and 2011 before he joined Chelsea.
The 30-Year-Old signed for the Blues in a deal reported to be around £23.5m in the summer of 2011 after making 179 appearances for Valencia in all competitions.
He spent almost three years at Chelsea before joining Manchester United in a £37.1m in January 2014.
