North London giants Arsenal have made a big coup after renowned sporting director Monchi agreed to join them, according to reports emanating from the Italian media.
Monchi is the sporting director at Italian Serie A giants AS Roma.
Italian media outlet II Messaggero claim that the North Londoners have reached an agreement for Monchi to become their sporting director in the summer.
It was revealed that Arsenal will have to pay €3m in compensation for him to break his contract at AS Roma.
The Gunners are willing to pay the said fee to secure his move to North London.
Arsenal have been searching for a sporting director for a long time and it seems they have found their man for the position.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is not new to Monchi after both worked together at Spanish La Liga club Sevilla.
Unai Emery is in full support of the move for Monchi.
Former Arsenal players like Marc Overmars and Edu were also linked with the job.
Monchi is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge in the transfer market to Arsenal as they try to navigate the summer’s transfer window with limited funds.
Arsenal have just £45m to spend when the transfer window reopens as reported by several British media outlets.
