11-time Premier League winners Manchester United have concluded plans to offer one of their key players a lucrative contract to ward off the interest of major European clubs.
David De Gea is one of the first names on the Red Devils’ team sheet and senior club officials are ready to offer him a contract that matches that status.
French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Italian champions Juventus are monitoring the Spanish international shot stopper’s situation at Old Trafford.
Reports had claimed that PSG could make a £60m bid to sign De Gea who has just 18 months on his current deal with the Red Devils.
His contract was expected to run out this summer but Manchester United officials moved quickly to activate the additional year clause in that contract thus taking him till the end of next season.
The Times say that Manchester United want to make David De Gea the highest earner in the Premier League (basic pay excluding bonuses) by offering him a whopping £90m over a new four-year contract.
The contract offer means that the 28-year-old will earn £365,000 on a weekly basis usurping highest earners like club teammates Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba as well as Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.
