Arsenal manager Unai Emery is reportedly desperate to get star midfielder Mesut Ozil off the wage bill at the club following the news that the German has been offered to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan according to reports emanating from Italy.
Italian media outlet Calciomercato claim that Ozil has been offered to the Italians as the Gunners try to get his £350,000 weekly wages off their payroll.
It was also revealed that Inter Milan is the likely destination for the retired German international player when the transfer window reopens in the summer with other interested clubs unable to afford the financial demands needed to pull off a deal.
Mesut Ozil became the highest earner at Arsenal with wages of £350,000 on a weekly basis when he signed a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium in February 2018.
His previous contract was expected to run out last summer before he put pen to paper on a new three-year deal until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The 30-year-old has failed to adapt to the playing methods under Arsenal manager Unai Emery and that has led to him being dropped for several games including the latest Premier League match against bottom club Huddersfield Town.
The Gunners won 2-1 away to the Terriers on Saturday evening to boost their top-four hopes.
