Arsenal fans were dealt a big transfer blow on Thursday night after the club failed to secure the transfer of highly rated Paris Saint Germain (PSG) midfielder Christopher Nkunku before the transfer window ended on Thursday night.

The Gunners were interested in a short-term loan deal for the young midfielder with the option of making the loan transfer a permanent one at the end of this campaign.

Christopher Nkunku wanted to join the North London giants where he would have reunited with Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a lot of playing time under Unai Emery last season while the Spanish tactician was the PSG manager.

He has endured a largely frustrating time at the club since Thomas Tuchel became the PSG manager last summer.

The former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund boss replaced Unai Emery at the Parc des Princes at the start of the season.

Tuchel has led PSG to the top of the table as well as the last 16 of the Champions League where they will face three-time European champions Manchester United.

On the failed move for Nkunku, French media outlet Le Parisien revealed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery was told that there was no funds to secure the loan transfer of the talented midfielder.
