West Ham United striker Lucas Perez could end his return to the Premier League after just six months with his possible exit up for discussion in the last few hours.

According to Sky Sports, the former Arsenal player is on the verge of leaving the Hammers for German Bundesliga club Schalke 04.

West Ham United are said to be in talks with Schalke 04 for Lucas Perez to join the Germans on loan for the remainder of this season.

Lucas Perez was on the payroll of North London giants Arsenal for two years between 2016 and 2018 though he spent half of that period on a season-long loan deal at Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna.

He had earlier joined the Gunners from the Spanish Segunda Division club in 2016 for a reported £17m fee.

The 30-year-old scored eight league goals in 35 appearances during his loan spell with Deportivo but his goals didn’t stop the club from suffering La Liga relegation at the end of the season.

During his time at Arsenal, Lucas Perez scored just once in the Premier League over 11 games.

His lone strike for the Gunners in the dramatic 3-3 draw at Bournemouth.

Lucas Perez came off the bench as Arsenal came from three goals down to rescue a draw.
