Manchester United defender Ashley Young has dealt a huge transfer blow to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan after he snubbed their interest in favor of staying at Old Trafford.
The Daily Mirror revealed that Ashley Young was offered a two-year contract as a potential free transfer signing by Inter Milan.
The 33-year-old has less than six months left on his Manchester United contract at the moment and the Red Devils have offered him a one-year contract extension that will see a significant increase on his £130,000 weekly wages.
Manchester United have a policy of handing age 30+ players a one-year contract extension.
Ashley Young is still an important member of the Manchester United squad despite his age.
The 33-year-old has replaced club skipper Antonio Valencia as the Red Devils’ first choice right-back this season.
He has captained Manchester United in the past games under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season with aforementioned Valencia struggling for form and fitness.
Apart from England international Ashley Young, Inter Milan have also been linked with a move for Italian fullback Matteo Darmian.
Since joining Manchester United from Aston Villa as a striker in 2011, Ashley Young has made 227 appearances for the club.
Ashley Young is a utility player that can play as a left wing, right wing or in midfield.
