Italian Serie A club Fiorentina have joined the race to sign Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian according to the various reports emanating from the Italian media.

According to the report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato via Caughtoffside, Fiorentina have joined other Italian top flight sides like Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to sign the in-demand Darmian.

The Italian international fullback could leave Manchester United either in this winter transfer window or during the summer.

Matteo Darmian has six months left on his present contract with the Red Devils though the club can activate the additional year clause in his deal at Old Trafford thus taking him to the summer of 2020.

Earlier reports claimed that both Inter Milan and Juventus have agreed on a loan deal for him with the obligation to sign the player for just €11m this summer.

Matteo Darmian has been on the fringes of the Manchester United team for the majority of this season.

The Italian defender joined the Red Devils from Serie A side Torino in the summer of 2015 and his playing time has reduced in recent seasons.

He made 39 appearances in his first season before featuring 29 times for the club during the 2016/17 campaign.

Darmian played 17 times for Manchester United last season.
