Premier League giants Manchester United might need to wait till the summer before they can sign Juventus winger Douglas Costa.
This is according to the publication from Italian media portal Calciomercato.
Douglas Costa has been linked with a move to Manchester United with earlier reports claiming that the Red Devils will sign the Brazilian international star in a £36m deal this month.
Those reports proved to be wide off the mark.
The aforementioned publication revealed that Italian Serie A giants Juventus don’t have an intention of sanctioning an exit for the former Shakhtar Donetsk winger in the current January transfer window.
Douglas Costa initially joined Juventus from German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on a temporary deal at the start of last season.
He signed for the Old Lady on a season-long deal and impressed a great deal during the loan contract before the transfer was made permanent last summer in a £44m deal.
Douglas Costa has not had the same impact in this campaign like what was obtainable in the black and white of Juventus last season.
He could be a direct replacement for Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez who has not been able to reproduce his good Arsenal form at Old Trafford since he left the Gunners in January 2018.
Why Liverpool have already benefitted from UCL
Merseyside outfit Liverpool are yet to win the Champions League title but they have started pocketing some cash benefits after reports claim that they already have £80 windfall just for reaching the semi-final of the competition.
A Football insider report claims that for defeating Porto in the quarterfinals, the Merseyside outfit were guaranteed a fresh cash boost of £10-4 million which adds to their revenues.
According to UEFA Champions League distribution data, the Reds team will receive prize money of £47.5 million for reaching the semi-final which is expected to be increased by what is earned from TV pool.
However, the £80 million windfalls are already more than the £67.6 million they earned reaching the finals last season which is no doubt a big financial boost to the team.
Meanwhile, there are suggestions that the main target of the team and their management is to win a title this season and they have set their sight on winning a double.
With a semi-final in the Champions League and a 2 points lead in the English Premier League, the Reds team are at a big advantage to land at least a title this season as consolidation for their miss for their defeat in the finals last season.
Arsenal Midfielder Doubtful For Remainder Of Season
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is a big doubt for the rest of the season following the injury that he sustained during the Europa League quarterfinal second leg clash with Napoli on Thursday night.
The Welsh international player was subbed off for Armenian player Henrikh Mkhitaryan after he suffered a hamstring injury.
Ramsey played for just 34 minutes before his exit as Arsenal booked their spot in the final four of this year’s Europa League.
The former Cardiff City midfielder made a telling contribution in the first leg when he scored the opening goal in the first leg against Napoli which the Gunners won 2-0.
Ramsey gave Arsenal the lead at the Emirates Stadium in the 15th minute before an own goal from Kalidou Koulibaly wrapped up the win for the hosts.
On the injury to Ramsey, Arsenal manager Unai Emery told reporters that it’s serious before adding that the midfielder is a doubt for the remainder of the season.
Without Ramsey on the pitch, Arsenal defeated Napoli for the second time in two days after Alexandre Lacazette scored a fine freekick in the 36th minute to give the Gunners a 1-0 win in the second leg and a 3-0 aggregate win.
Arsenal will now face Spanish club Valencia in the last four of the Europa League.
Solskjaer Vows To Sign Right Players For Man Utd
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vowed to sign the right players for the club when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Solskjaer made this known during his pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend’s game in the Premier League.
Manchester United are in a keenly contested battle to finish in the top-four of the Premier League and they can take a big step towards achieving that target when they travel to take on Everton at the weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also told reporters that Manchester United are looking for quality players to sign ahead of next season.
A major rebuilding job is expected at Manchester United this summer with several incomings and outgoings expected at the club.
Solskjaer will oversee the rebuilding job in the summer and several players have been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
Manchester United have had a topsy turvy season but they can still end up in the top-four of the Premier League at the end of the season.
The Red Devils were recently eliminated from the Champions League by Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona.
The Spanish giants defeated Manchester United 3-0 in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie to wrap up a 4-0 aggregate victory over the Red Devils.
Champions League: Ter Stegen Explains Why He Didn’t Celebrate Goal vs Man Utd
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen has the reason has explained why he didn’t celebrate the second goal against Premier League giants Manchester United during their Champions League quarterfinal second leg clash on Tuesday night.
In an interview with Spanish radio Cadena COPE, the Barcelona shot stopper said that he was sympathetic towards the plight of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea and that was why he didn’t celebrate the second goal scored by Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.
David De Gea was at fault for the second goal after he allowed the right-footed shot from Messi to squirm under his body and into the back of the net.
Messi had given Barcelona the lead five minutes earlier with a left-footed strike that The Manchester United defence had no answer to.
The two Messi goals gave Barcelona a 2-0 lead before former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho added a third goal in the second half with a fine finish from the edge of the box.
Coutinho’s strike gave the Blaugrana a 3-0 win on the night and a 4-0 aggregate victory over the Red Devils.
Barcelona will now face Liverpool in the last four of the Champions League with the first leg scheduled for the Nou Camp before the second leg in England.
Arsenal Legend Delighted With Unai Emery Impact
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has showered high praise on Gunners boss Unai Emery for his impact at the club since his appointment last summer.
Unai Emery replaced legendary manager Arsene Wenger at the start of the season after the Frenchman resigned from the job after almost 22 years in North London.
Since his appointment, the former Almeria and Valencia player has led the Gunners to the top four on the Premier League table as well as semifinals of the Europa League.
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour was part of the Gunners squad that won two Premier League titles under legendary manager Arsene Wenger.
The ex-England international player talked about Unai Emery extensively while he was doing his punditry work on trusted media channel Sky Sports.
Ray Parlour confessed that he didn’t expect the level of success achieved by Unai Emery since his time at the club.
Unai Emery and Arsenal are on course to qualify for the Premier League top four as well as also win the Europa League title.
Arsenal are in fourth spot on the Premier League table with five games left to play in the quest to qualify for the Champions League.
The Gunners also face a semifinal tie with Spanish La Liga club Valencia with the two legs scheduled for the start of next month.
Unai Emery Praised For His Boldness Against Napoli
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been lauded by one of the club’s former players for his boldness against Italian Serie A giants Napoli in their Europa League quarterfinal second leg clash on Thursday night.
Arsenal legend Martin Keown was impressed with his approach for the Napoli game as the Gunners booked their spot in the semifinals of the Europa League with a 3-0 aggregate win over the Italian Serie A giants.
The Gunners had won the first leg 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium before the 1-0 away win over the Italians.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown was full of praise for Spanish tactician Unai Emery for his selection for the second leg in Naples in his column on the Daily Mail.
The Arsenal manager started both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette together against Napoli and he was rewarded when French international Lacazette scored the only goal of the game.
Lacazette scored the 36th-minute freekick after he was brought down outside the Napoli box.
Arsenal will now face Spanish La Liga club Valencia in the final four of the competition.
The Gunners will host the Spanish club in the first leg on Thursday, May 2 before the second leg scheduled for the Mestalla on the 9th of May.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery will face his former club while ex-Gunners players like Francis Coquelin and Gabriel Paulista are expected to face their former side.
Messi Already Deserves Ballon d’Or Award After Man Utd Heroics
Barcelona legend Rivaldo is certain that Lionel Messi deserves a sixth Ballon d’Or after his heroics against Premier League giants Manchester United.
In an exclusive interview with popular media portal Goal, the former Barcelona forward pointed out that Messi has been consistent in the past months and he’s the overwhelming favourite to win the Player of the Year for 2019.
The reigning Ballon d’Or winner is Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric who was a key performer for the Croatian national team at last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
Modric and Croatia surprisingly reached the final of the aforementioned tournament before they were beaten by France in the finals via a 4-2 defeat.
Lionel Messi is the favourite to succeed Modric as the Ballon d’Or recipient for this year.
The Argentine national team skipper has scored 10 goals in the Champions League this season which is more than any other player in the competition.
He moved clear of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski (8 goals) with two goals against Manchester United in their Champions League quarterfinal second leg clash.
Messi was the star of the show as Barcelona thrashed the Red Devils 3-0 to secure a semifinal spot via a 4-0 aggregate victory over the Red Devils.
Betting Preview: Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur: Home Win On The Cards
Premier League champions Manchester City would be hoping to bounce back from their Champions League exit at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur when they face the same opponents in the league.
Manchester City host Spurs at home with the target of getting the win that will take them to the top of the Premier League table and ahead of title rivals Liverpool.
The Citizens crashed out of the Champions League at the quarterfinal stage after they were beaten by North London giants Tottenham Hotspur.
The English champions had lost the first leg 1-0 away from home and the lack of at least an away goal came back to haunt them in the second leg.
Manchester City paid dearly for a poor defensive showing with a 4-3 win which was not enough to take them into the semifinals.
Ahead of the game, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola might not make too many altercations to his team with a win over Spurs being the target for him.
Manchester City are overwhelming favourites despite the result from Wednesday’s Champions League and they have winning odds of 1.27 according to Surebet247.
An unlikely victory for Spurs is at the odds of 10.00 while a possible stalemate is at the odds of 6.00 as confirmed by Surebet247.
Pogba Needs To Perform Better – Club Legend
Former Manchester United player Henning Berg has called out star player Paul Pogba over his recent performances in the colours of the club.
In a recent interview monitored by popular media outlet Goal, the Manchester United legend revealed that the French World Cup winner must improve his performances for the Red Devils with the immense quality that he possesses.
Paul Pogba has been heavily criticised following his showing over the two-legged Champions League tie with Spanish champions Barcelona.
Pogba and Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona via a 4-0 aggregate defeat.
French World Cup winner Pogba was largely anonymous as Manchester United were beaten 1-0 at home courtesy an own goal from Luke Shaw in the 12th minute.
The former Juventus midfielder also struggled to impose his game on the second leg clash which took place at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.
Pogba was nonexistent as Manchester United were beaten 3-0 by their hosts who secured a final four spot in this year’s Champions League with a 4-0 aggregate win over the Red Devils.
Barcelona will next face Liverpool in the final four of the competition with the first leg scheduled for the Nou Camp at the start of next month while the second leg will take place at Anfield a week later.

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has praised Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi following his performance for the Spanish champions in their Champions League win over his former club.

Lionel Messi was at his best against the Red Devils as he scored twice to lead Barcelona to a 3-0 win over the Red Devils in their Champions League quarterfinal second leg meeting to secure a 4-0 aggregate victory.
The little Argentine international scored the opening goal for the Red Devils in the 16th minute with a left-footed strike before he added a brace in fortuitous circumstances after his right-footed strike squirmed under the body of Manchester United shot-stopper David De Gea.
Ex-Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho wrapped up the win for the Spanish champions in the second leg.
Barcelona had earlier won the first leg at Old Trafford with the help of an own goal from Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.
