Arsenal manager Unai Emery has demanded for the exit of German midfielder Mesut Ozil from the club in the current January transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Unai Emery has told senior Arsenal officials that Mesut Ozil is dispensable despite the fact that he’s the highest paid player in the history of the club.
2014 World Cup winner Ozil signed a new three-year Arsenal deal in February 2018 to become the highest paid player at the club.
His contract is worth £350,000 on a weekly basis.
Unai Emery wants Arsenal to dump Mesut Ozil in this transfer window to free up some funds for him to sign Denis Suarez from Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona.
Arsenal could find it difficult to get a buyer that’s willing to pay weekly wages close to the £350,000 that he currently earns in North London.
The Gunners already have an agreement in place for Denis Suarez to join the club on loan but Barcelona want assurances that the Spaniard would be signed at the end of his loan stint but Arsenal prefers the option of deciding whether to sign him or not.
He could take the place of Ozil in the Arsenal squad.
Mesut Ozil was again left out of the Arsenal squad for the weekend’s game against West Ham United despite being fully fit.
