European champions Real Madrid have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Italian Serie A giants Napoli.
Kalidou Koulibaly has been one of the best centre backs in Italy for the better of the last two seasons and it’s no surprise that the Senegalese international defender has been touted as a potential defensive addition for the Los Merengues.
The interest of Real Madrid was revealed by Italian news outlet II Mattino who also stated that the Champions League holders could hijack the Reds Devils move for Kalidou Koulibaly.
The 27-year-old has been a transfer target for Manchester United dating back to last year when they had two separate bids knocked back by Napoli.
Manchester United had a £95m transfer bid turned down for him.
It has been revealed that Napoli are opposed to the idea of letting their most prized asset leave the club in the middle of the season.
To this effect, Manchester United are prepared to wait till the summer for Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Red Devils are keen to improve their squad defensively following their disappointing season so far on the defensive front.
Manchester United have conceded 32 goals in just 21 league games this term.
