Former Premier League club Sunderland have received a big transfer blow after the North London giants Arsenal blocked their move for one of the midfielders on the Gunners’ payroll.
The Black Cats were hoping to sign Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock possible on loan until the end of this season to boost their Championship promotion hopes.
Sunderland suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2017/18 season before making it two in two seasons by dropping down to League One at the end of the last campaign.
The club has been in the top three spots on the League One table for some time and Northeast outfit would like to improve the squad for the second half of this season as they try to secure promotion at the end of the season.
Joe Willock would have been a good addition to the Gunners squad but Football London claim that Arsenal have told clubs that their players are not available for sale or for loan deals.
Willock, 19, has been in impressive form for both the Arsenal junior and senior teams this season.
He was on target twice in the FA Cup third round victory over League One side Blackpool.
The England U20 international netted a first-half brace before Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi completed the 3-0 win.
