Liverpool take on Wolverhampton Wanderers later tonight at the Molineux stadium as they hope to progress to the next round of the FA Cup competition.
The Reds lost their last match by a very narrow ( 2-1) scoreline to Manchester City, but they would hope to avoid back-to-back defeats when they tackle the ‘giant killers’
The Reds were 2-0 winners over the Molineux outfits some weeks ago but that was in a Premier League match. Nonetheless, the Wanderers would be seeking revenge against Klopp’s men later tonight.
SIMON MIGNOLET SET TO START
Liverpool’s want-away goalie Simon Mignolet, whose future remains in doubt, is set to start for the second time this season.
While revealing his squad list, Jurgen Klopp dropped first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker from the travelling squad.
According to the manager, Mignolet is a great player and he deserves to get a few starts, mostly in competitions like FA Cup and maybe Champions League.
MIGNOLET’S UNSETTLED FUTURE
The Belgian goalie was linked with a loan move to Galatasaray during the summer window but Klopp prevented the deal from materializing, much to the player’s frustration.
The 30-year-old has featured in just one match for the Reds since the start of the season and he is said to be heading out of Anfield this month.
It remains unknown whether Klopp would sanction his departure in the winter market, considering the fact that the remaining goalkeepers (except Alisson Becker) are relatively young and inexperienced.
Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara are untested and they aren’t ready —for now — to be in goal for a club as big as Liverpool.
