English Premier League side Chelsea have completed another signing this season following the capture of goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger from Birmingham.
The announcement was made after the star goalkeeper completed a medical test that ensured her fit to join the Chelsea female team until May 2022.
Ann-Katrin Berger will no doubt be the first signing of the Chelsea female team in 2019, although not the entire team as the male team had already secured the signature of Christian Pulisic from German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
A medical was necessary for Ann-Katrin Berger because she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in November 2017 which ensured a surgery but there is no doubt that she is now medically and physically fit as she returned with the best form of her career.
Speaking after signing the deal, Ann-Katrin Berger told Chelsea’s official website that she looks forward to playing for one of the best clubs in England, stressing that she has no doubt the right choice has been made.
On his part, Chelsea manager Emma Hayes claims Ann-Katrin Berger has been the best goalkeeper in the league in the past two years and he hopes she continues her fine form at the club when she eventually starts playing games.
