Barcelona director Guillermo Amor has debunked recent transfer rumours surrounding midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
The club chief was reacting to reports that Manchester United are in talks to sign the player in a deal worth around £100m.
Guillermo Amor told Moviestar that Philippe Coutinho won’t leave the club and that he remains a Barcelona player.
The 26-year-old has failed to settle down properly at the Nou Camp and has been in and out of the Barcelona team under manager Ernesto Valverde in recent weeks.
The uncertainty over his place in the Barcelona XI has contributed immensely to the transfer reports circling around him.
Brazilian international star Philippe Coutinho signed for Barcelona in January 2018 from Premier League leaders Liverpool in a deal worth over £140m.
The transfer makes him the third most expensive player in world football behind young French forward Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint Germain) and compatriot Neymar.
He was recently the best player for the Selecao at last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia but was unable to prevent the five-time world champions from exiting the tournament at the quarterfinals stage via a 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils of Belgium.
He has failed to transmit those Brazil forms into the colours of Barcelona this season in what’s his debut campaign (full) for the Catalan club.
