German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have slapped the sum of £30m on defender Mats Hummels just days before the January transfer window kicks off.

This is according to the report from the renowned English media portal The Sun which also revealed that the London duo of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on a transfer for the 30-year-old centre back.

Mats Hummels has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past.

He was heavily touted as a possible signing for the Red Devils before he completed a free transfer move from Borussia Dortmund to current club Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016.

He was a mainstay of the Bayern Munich team in his first two seasons at the Allianz Arena until the appointment of Niko Kovac as the manager of the Bavarian giants earlier this year.

Mats Hummels has become the third choice centre back behind the duo of Jerome Boateng and Niklas Sule since Niko Kovac took over in the summer.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner has been attracting the interests of several European clubs as a result of his current playing status with five-time European champions Bayern Munich.

Manchester United are looking for a quality centre back and Hummels could be an option for the Red Devils.
