French attacking midfielder Yassin Fortune has explained the reason behind his summer exit from Arsenal.
The 19-year-old decided to leave the club despite the fact that he was offered the opportunity to put pen to paper on a four-year contract extension with the Gunners.
Yassin Fortune sealed a transfer to Swiss Super League side FC Sion in the aftermath of his free transfer exit from Arsenal at the end of last season.
The player has revealed the reason behind his decision to leave the club in his recent interview monitored by the Daily Express.
According to the French junior international, he was keen to secure more playing time and that was what informed his decision to leave Arsenal earlier this year.
The forward has played for the French U16, U17 and the U18 teams at the international level.
Yassin Fortune also revealed that he spoke to the Arsenal Academy director Per Mertersacker before he left the club.
The player then said that he received several offers from his home country but the offer from Swiss club FC Sion was too good to turn down.
Fortune has made a great start to his career in Switzerland with 12 goals in 16 league appearances for his club.
