Three-time European champions Manchester United have submitted a bid for experienced Brazilian international winger Douglas Costa ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to begin next week.

This is according to the report from renowned Italian media outlet Rai Sport.

The Red Devils have submitted a £54m bid for Douglas Costa who’s on the payroll of Italian Serie A giants Juventus.

The Old Lady snapped him up permanently in the summer from fellow Champions League knockout stage campaigners Bayern Munich.

Douglas Costa, 28, was initially on a season-long loan deal at the Juventus Stadium.

He scored six goals for the Old Lady in the last campaign amidst series of impressive performances for the team and that prompted the Italians to turn his loan spell into a permanent transfer.

Manchester United will have to increase their bid for Douglas Costa who’s rated at around £70m.

The Red Devils hierarchy are ready to back interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market starting from the chase for Douglas Costa.

The team has been given a new lease of life with the appointment of Solskjaer as interim manager.

The former Manchester United striker has guided the team to two straight wins from as many games.
