€36m Defender Could Join Man United In January

AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas could join Premier League side Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start as from the 1st of next month.

Reports coming out of Italy claim that the €36m defender has emerged as a top transfer target for the Red Devils ahead of the January transfer window.

Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb via Bristolpost claim that Manchester United are plotting a move for the Greek international centre back.

Kostas Manolas has a release clause of around €36m (£32.5m) in his current contract with the Italian capital club.

The 27-year-old has been a key player for Roma since he joined the club from Greek Super League side Olympiacos for €15m during the summer of 2014.

He was part of the AS Roma side that reached the semifinals of the Champions League in surprising fashion.

They were eliminated from the competition by Premier League table toppers Liverpool.

Manchester United are keen to boost their defence with the signing of a centre back following their poor start to the season defensively especially in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have kept just two clean sheets in the league all season in the games against struggling Burnley and Crystal Palace.
