Arsenal are preparing a bid that will lure Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega away from the Andalusian outfit ahead of the January transfer window which reopens in the next few days.

The Daily Star claim that the Gunners will make a bid of around £18m for the Argentine international player whom manager Unai Emery sees as a direct replacement for the outgoing Aaron Ramsey.

Welsh international star Aaron Ramsey is on the verge of leaving Arsenal despite the fact that he’s the Gunners’ longest serving player.

His contract runs out in six months time and senior Arsenal officials have decided not to offer him fresh terms.

Arsenal initially gave him a new contract but the player stalled on signing it thereby leading to the contract offer withdrawal on the part of the Gunners.

The player has since received several offers from clubs across Europe.

Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are some of the clubs that have made a free transfer offer for the former Cardiff City player.

Ever Banega could replace Ramsey at Arsenal having played under Unai Emery at Sevilla.

The 30-year-old definitely understands what it takes to play for the Spanish tactician.

He has 65 caps for the Argentine national team in addition to a very good return of eight goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla this season.
