Former Manchester United player Andrei Kanchelskis is adamant that the Red Devils will have to make a big decision over the future of goalkeeper David De Gea at the end of the season.
The Red Devils legend spoke about Manchester United and the De Gea contract situation in an interview with Bwin via the Daily Express.
According to him, Spanish international shot stopper De Gea won’t sign a new contract at Old Trafford thus forcing the club to make a decision about his future next summer when he has just one year left on his present Manchester United deal.
The 28-year-old has become a key player at Manchester United since he joined the three-time European champions from Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in 2011 in a deal worth £19m.
The Spaniard has made over 300 appearances for Manchester United.
He had just six months left on his current deal before Manchester United activated the extra year clause in the contract to take him till the end of next season.
Manchester United could be faced with a big problem next summer if De Gea continues to turn down new contract offers.
Senior Red Devils officials will need to decide whether to sell him or not next summer if the situation remains the same.
Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Juventus are possible transfer destinations for him.
