Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji has dismissed transfer rumours of a move to Premier League giants Manchester United just some weeks before the start of the winter transfer market.
The Swiss international centre-back played down those reports in a chat with German publication WAZ via caughtoffside.
Manuel Akanji revealed that he’s not interested in a move to Manchester United mainly due to the way the Red Devils play under manager Jose Mourinho.
The Swiss defender has become a key component of the Borussia Dortmund defensive unit since he joined the club from FC Basel of Switzerland in the penultimate transfer window in January.
Akanji has helped Borussia Dortmund to the top of the table in the German Bundesliga.
His Borussia Dortmund has enjoyed a hugely successful 2018/19 season until now but the same cannot be said of Premier League fallen giants Manchester United.
The Red Devils have had a disappointing season so far.
Manchester United are currently languishing in mid-table on the Premier League log.
They are in the eighth spot with 23 points from 15 league games.
In addition, the Red Devils have been able to prevent the opposition from scoring just twice.
Manchester United have also conceded a whopping 25 goals in 15 games in the Premier League.
